11/11/2017 0 Comments CupFor my pulled handle project I made a cup. This cup is about 4 inches high and 3 inches wide. When glazing this project I glazed the inside white and dipped the outside is brown and then white to get the light blue effect. The color of this mug shows the balance between the 2 colors I used. Something I remembered when making this mug is pulling the handle with the bucket of water-- and pulling down on the handle to make it proportionate. This mug is important because it shows that I am remembering the same techniques that I learned last year.

11/10/2017 0 Comments PlanterFor my next project I made a planter. The base of this project is about 5 inches and the height is about 4 inches. When glazing this I dipped the whole project in blue glaze then took cobalt blue glaze and dripped it down the sides. When making this project I remembered/learned how to make a separate section for the base of the planter by making an indent in between the middle and the outside of the clay. The form of this project shows the balance between the middle of the planter and the outside of it. This planter is important because it shows that I am figuring out the glaze colors that I prefer.
10/24/2017 0 Comments VaseFor my next project I made a vase. The vase is approximately 4 inches tall and 3 inches wide. When glazing this project I dipped the whole project in dark brown glaze and then dipped the top in white glaze to get the blue effect. A skill that I remembered from last year is learning how to choke the top to make the project have more shape. The shape of the project helps add emphasis towards the top of the vase. This vase is unique because of the holes that I added to the top, so I can put a candle in the vase and light can get through.
10/22/2017 0 Comments Bowl 2For my third project on the wheel I made another bowl. This project is about 4 inches tall and 5 inches wide. The sides of this are rounded out along with the top lip to give it a more finished look. When glazing this I dipped the whole bowl in the color sand. After that dried, I then took a dropper and dropped the color cobalt blue down the sides to get the striped look. A new skill I learned is that after creating something on the wheel, that trimming the bottom make the project easier to foot the next day. The color of this bowl helps emphasize the rhythm and movement in the bowl. This bowl is important because this is the first time I have successfully gotten the glaze colors to turn out correctly this year.
10/16/2017 0 Comments Bowl 1The next project I made was a bowl. The size of this bowl is about 4 inches tall and 6 inches wide. While the sides of this bowl have been rounded out to give it a more finished look. This bowl was dipped half way in green glaze while the other half was dipped in white glaze. When footing this project I learned that footing more towards the outside edge would help stop the glaze from dripping onto the shelf. The color of this bowl shows the contrast between the light and dark colors. This project is important to me because it shows that I am remembering the techniques that I learned last year in ceramics.
10/16/2017 0 Comments Group CoilFor our first group project we made a group coil. The height of the coil pot was approximately 4 1/2 inches tall, while the width is 4 inches wide. When glazing this my partner, Jackson and I dipped the whole project in cobalt blue glaze. After that dried we wiped the glaze from the bottom of the inside of the project so the word "corgi" could be seen, we then layered clear glaze on top of that so the project would be shiny. Everyday after we added new clay, we learned that we had to put the project in a bag so that it wouldn't crack and fall apart. The value between the 2 colors on the inside of the coil pot represent the unity that is shown throughout the project. Overall, this project is important because it represents our friend Lexi and her liking's.
10/4/2017 0 Comments CylinderFor my first project this year I made a cylinder. When I glazed the cylinder I first dipped it into brown gaze and let it dry. To get the green affect on the top of it I dipped half of it into white glaze. While learning how to center again, for the first time this school year I remembered that sitting on the edge of the chair and directly over a project gives you more control. This project has value which helps show the balance and contrast in the colors on the cylinder. This cylinder is important because it is the first successful project I have made on the wheel this year.
