1/11/2018 0 Comments ExtraFor my extra credit project I made another planter. This is small only about 2.5 inches tall and 4.5 inches wide. For the glaze I attempted to layer black and white to get blue but it didn't turn out. One thing I learned or remembered when making this was how to make 2 openings. The shape of this project shows the unity and harmony because the color compliments it. This is important because i plan to put plants in it.

1/11/2018 0 Comments theme 2This is my second theme project. This is a cylinder that is about 3 inches tall and 1 inch wide. when making this I carved out the sides to add more dimension. For the glaze I learned how to use use paint over clear glaze to get the pattern. The colors in this show contrast along with unity and harmony. This is important because its my favorite project this year.
1/9/2018 0 Comments Theme 1My Next project I made was a theme which was a tall cylinder. This project is roughly 4 inches tall and 2.5 inches wide. When glazing this I dipped the whole thing in clear glaze then layered yellow over the top. A new skill I learned when making this was how to trim the top so it would have a more finished look. The color of this helps show the unity throughout. This theme project is important because its only something I would make and it holds candle.
1/8/2018 0 Comments TallThe next project that I made was a tall project. This project is about 5 inches tall and 2 inches wide. When glazing this I dipped the whole thing in green then dripped metallic brown down the sides. A new skill I learned when making this was to choke from the bottom of the project to the top so it would get taller. The value in the glaze of the project helps show the emphasis between the light and dark colors. Overall this project is important because it is the tallest project I have made so far.
1/1/2018 0 Comments liddedNext I made another lidded project. The lidded is about 5 inches tall and 3 inches wide. The glaze that I uses on the project was green and then metallic brown dripped down the sides. The value is able to show that there is balance between the light and dark colors. One thing I learned when making this is to use the foam bat when trimming the lid. This is important to me because I like the shape of the base.
1/1/2018 0 Comments set of 3For my set of 3, I made 3 bowls. All of these bowls are around the same size measuring at about 3 inches tall and 4.5 inches wide. For the glaze I dipped all of the bowls into white glaze then I painted red stripes so the red color would run. The value in these bowls helps show the movement that the glazes create. One thing I learned while making these is that using the calipers to measure the opening of the clay helps them become roughly the same size. These bowls are important because I gave them away to my aunt as a Christmas present.
12/30/2017 0 Comments Large Bowl 2Next I made my second large bowl. This bowl is about 4 inches tall and 5.5 inches wide. When glazing this bowl I decided to layer cobalt blue, green, and white. The color of this bowl helps define the shape and the lines that are bale to make the bowl more unified. An important thing that I learned when footing this bowl is that if you make the foot ring further against the edge the glaze will stop there. This bowl is important to me because I enjoy the way the glazes turned out.
12/20/2017 0 Comments December 20th, 2017For my next project I made a large bowl. This bowl is approximately 4.5 inches tall and 5 inches wide. When glazing this bowl I dipped the whole bowl in green and then dripped white down the sides. The shape and form of this bowl shows the unity and harmony throughout. One thing i learned when forming the shape of the bowl was to take the blue rib tool and run it along the inside. This bowl is important to me because it is the biggest project I have ever made.
12/3/2017 0 Comments LiddedFor my next project I made a lidded. This is about 4 inches tall and 3 inches wide. The glaze for this was black with blue glaze dripped down the top to give it a hazy blue and green color. The shape and form of this helps show the balance ans unity the project shows from the lid to the base. One thing I learned when making this was to wipe off the bottom of the lid and the top so the 2 pieces wouldn't stick together while in the kiln. This lidded is important to me because it helps me see the improvement I have made from last year.
12/3/2017 0 Comments FrankenpotFor the second group project Jackson and I made a tall frankenpot. This project is about 8 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches wide. When glazing this project I painted horizontal blue stripes along the top, middle, and bottom. After those dried I dipped the whole project in white glaze so the blue colors would drip. The color of the project shows the contrast and balance going from dark to light. One thing I learned and remembered from last year is that it is easier if you measure the pieces correctly the first time. This project is important because it shows out progress as a team.
